i'm glad to be home even if it's for one day.

You have been staying safe, then? I received a message from one of my employees, Jamie, who let me know I would be short-staffed for a while.

It... I have been very worried. For everyone.

i've been doing my best on this trip, but Jamie is right. a good portion of us have gone to help Retrospec.

throw us a party when we come back as heroes.

[ His way of saying don't worry. ]

As long as everyone comes back unharmed, I can find it in my dark heart to forgive Retrospec.

[ his black-as-night, cat-shaped heart. or something. but he assumes that everyone who's gone to help is probably some kind of capable fighter. or magician. or stabby-person. ]

Are you able to protect people?

i'm actually not sure. our team is currently helping out a village with their wolf problem, but i can never tell what the outcome will be. adventure to be continued.

Promise you will not say anything to anyone else, but I have sustained a minor injury.

I... attempted to assist a police officer in fending off what one could call a 'monster'.

It did not go as well as I thought it would.

i won't, but did you get that checked out? is it like a sprained ankle or wrist?

you should be careful about the monsters. my friend had a hard time duo-ing one and she has special powers.

It is hard to explain. I was struck by a large being made of muscle and hatred. I am more or less bruised, and that is easily dealt with.

Special powers? Like what?

hatred? i want to say that's something new, but i find it believable. i can heal your bruises if you stop by my place, but i'm glad you didn't break any bones.

she can summon a goddess from her mind is all. no big deal.

It certainly had no mercy for an innocent business owner like me.

Ah, you can heal people as well? I suspect it is nothing like a bandage and some aspirin.

sounds like innocent business owner can use some lessons in either swordfighting or magic. though i think magic might be something you're born with? i don't know.

yeah, like my friend, i can summon things, too. i have a dragon that can heal.

it feels more like... a warm sensation? like a wave washing over you.

I was thrown a gun, but apparently I do not have the greatest aim.

So, like a bath? Or like an ocean wave? I suppose if something was meant to relieve someone of pain, it should feel pretty good.

If I am still in need of your skills, I will surely let you know. But... does it not exhaust you in some way?

guns can be tricky, though i've never used a real one before. there's a shooting range around here that you might want to frequent if you're going to pursue marksmanship.

something like that? except less wet.

it costs energy, but i need practice if i want it to be less taxing.

Less wet is a good thing. I do not like spending my day drying off.

Energy... so like running, or swimming. Except it is healing people with a dragon that comes from your brain or something.

If it is the matter of regaining focus or energy, then food or drink while under that kind of exertion may be helpful.

coffee and tea help, but caffeine isn't always good for you, either. i'll probably rely on smoothies in the future.

i'm not sure if it'll be as potent as this black sludge my friend makes.

Sometimes, caffeine is the only thing that keeps me going. That, and the possibility of one day rubbing a cat against my face without potential death.

Black sludge? If that is how you describe it, it cannot possibly be good for you.

i understand those things, but cutting back on caffeine is good for your health. cat rubs are different. they can keep going.

it's more like bitter medicine? except coffee.

When you are back, I would enjoy the chance to see if cat therapy can overcome biology.

Oh... coffee so thick it becomes a substance somewhat unknown to man? I am curious, but I also like living.



By that, I mean living an unbuzzed life.

Scared? I do not scare easily. I only fear one thing and it is not something easily guessed by mortals.

If the sludge could enhance my life... then I would partake of it.

my first guess: the extinction of cats.

it makes you feel invigorated. it's weird. usually, you would think you would die based on how it tastes.
